It is easy to describe what a product does. The more honest description is often the list of things it refuses to do, because that is where the real decisions are. Here are ours.
It will not copy a creator's words. The refinery reads public transcripts, but the report is not a transcript with the boring parts cut out. Every point is restated in our own words, as a point, with a citation back to the original. We are not in the business of re-hosting someone else's video as text. The creator made the thing. Our job is to point at it accurately and let you decide whether to go watch, not to replace it.
It will not write a sentence it cannot trace. We covered this at length in another post, so briefly: if a point has no timestamp in a real video, it does not exist as far as the report is concerned. A fluent guess is still a guess, and a research tool that smuggles guesses in among sourced facts is worse than no tool at all.
It will not pretend the sources agree when they don't. Plenty of summarizers flatten a messy debate into one smooth consensus, because consensus reads nicely. The refinery does the opposite. When your corpus contains people who contradict each other, the report says so and shows you both sides with their timestamps. A clean answer that hides the disagreement is a lie of omission, and those are the expensive kind.
It will not hide what it could not cover. Transcripts are sometimes missing, garbled, or auto-generated badly. When part of a corpus is thin or unreadable, the report tells you, rather than papering over the gap with confident filler. You should always know how much of the picture you are actually looking at.
It will not charge you to find out the price. You get the full quote before you pay anything, calculated from the runtime you selected. And the free tier is a real report, not a locked preview. We would rather you see exactly what the pipeline produces and then decide than talk you into a purchase you cannot evaluate.
It will not track you to do any of this. No advertising cookies, no pixels, no profile. The one email you can give us is optional and used only to send your report. A research tool does not need to follow you around the internet, so ours doesn't.
Constraints are not a limitation we apologize for. They are the product. A tool that will do anything you ask, including the things it shouldn't, is a tool you have to double-check at every step, which means it saved you nothing. The point of drawing these lines is so that when a report lands in your inbox, you already know what kind of document it is: sourced, skeptical, honest about its gaps, and yours.
